MICROSOFT WORDS FOR DUMMIES
AND ENLIGHTENED BEINGS
POST-DIGITAL LO-FI AV PERFORMANCE
2018
With Christine Ellison, Graham Dunning
LOCATION
South Street Art Centre, Reading, UK
Agency of Noise presents MICRO SOFT WORDS FOR DUMMIES AND ENLIGHTENED BEINGS a series of sonic acts by Christine Ellison developed with Erato Tzavara and Graham Dunning in collaboration with graduates from Reading School of Art.
In this live work, performers respond to language from software to explore the sonic potential of digital commands. Amplified objects and voice are used to interpret an amorphic graphic score that has been synthesised from words and symbols of digital interfaces. Inspired by the improvisational scores of Pauline Oliveros, Yoko Ono, Allan Kaprow, George Maciunas and Steve Reich, this work takes performance strategies from the mid 20th century into current discourse with technology.
Developed through workshops at Reading School of Art and supported by Reading International and The Arts Committee, University of Reading.
Performed by
Graham Dunning, Christine Ellison, Djuli Hajolayan, Tara O'Connor, Valeria Radchenko, Holly Sandford, Oren Shoesmith, Erato Tzavara, Sien Vanco
